Srisailam (also written Sri Sailam) in Nandyal / Kurnool region of Andhra Pradesh is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and also a Shakti Peetha. The presiding deities are Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Sri Bhramaramba Devi. The town sits in the Nallamala forest on the Krishna river, so a yatra here is both pilgrimage and nature travel.

Sikharam is the highest point associated with Shiva’s blessing to a devotee who could not walk to the main temple. Paladhara Panchadhara is a quiet spring area in the forest. Start early, carry water, and do not wander off marked roads — this is tiger reserve country.
